BUENA BOROUGH - Amid a nationwide recession that has tamped down construction projects, a Pennsylvania concrete company says it will have to cease some operations and eliminate dozens of jobs, including at its plant in New Jersey.High Concrete Group's Buena facility, which it acquired from United Precasting Corp. in 2006, will continue production until early February, when the location will be reduced to shipping and loading crews to meet customer delivery dates, the company said in a statement Monday."Jobs necessary to produce, load and ship projects currently in production will remain active in order to deliver on our commitments to each of our customers," said Jeffrey D. Smith, who was named president of the Denver, Pa.-based High Concrete Group last month. The Buena facility will see job losses affecting about 75 percent of its more than 70 employees there, the company said. Operations and positions at its other four facilities - in Denver and Williamsport, Pa., Springboro, Ohio, and Paxton, Ill. - are similarly affected.High Concrete Group, one of the nation's top producers of precast parking garages, reported revenue of about $200 million in 2006 and currently employs more than 700 people.
