MAYS LANDING - A former Atlantic City casino employee was arrested last week after using false identification to get a job as a food server at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, open a bank account, get a New Jersey driver's license and health benefits, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said.

Luis Riano Castaneyra, 31, of Galloway Township, was arrested June 20 at Borgata, where he was using the name and identification of Arnoldo Reyes, an Arizona resident, Housel said. A three-day investigation was conducted by several agencies. The Social Security Admin-istration notified the Borgata that the individual employed by the casino was not Reyes.

Upon questioning by police, the employee identified himself as Riano Castaneyra, a Mexican citizen. He was charged with Identity Theft and Falsifying or Tampering with Records.

Reyes, who was born in Philadelphia, and Castaneyra did not know each other, according to authorities.

Insurance Fraud Investiga-tors Jason Dorn and Steven Hadley Jr. made the arrest with the assistance of Special Agent Brendon Murray of the Social Security Administration, Office of the Inspector General.

Complaints were filed in Atlantic City. Riano Casteneyere was released on a summons pending further legal proceedings, Housel said.

Authorities notified Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, better known as ICE.

Anyone with information regarding this crime or another involving identity theft is asked to call the Prosecutor's Office Insurance Fraud or Financial Crimes Unit at 609-909-7866.
