Cumberland County Fair continues through Saturday

From Press staff reportsMILLVILLE - Now in its 40th year, the Cumberland County Fair, with its familiar midway, amusements, activities and focus on the area's rural lifestyle, is well under way at the county fairgrounds on Carmel Road.In the mornings and afternoons, children of all ages and from numerous 4-H clubs participate in a number of activities ranging from showing horses and livestock auctions to pet shows and goat-milking contests.The fair opened Monday and runs through Saturday.When the sun begins to set and the animals are stabled for the night, the sounds and lights from the various rides, which include standard amusement fair like Ferris wheels and miniature roller coasters, become the centerpiece of activity.
In addition to the amusements and wide variety of available food, there are nightly free concerts and other activities like hay rides, magic shows, a petting zoo and even piglet races.On Friday, in cooperation with the city, the fair is holding its fireworks spectacular at dusk. Other upcoming events include a truck pull, also on Friday, a classic car show tonight and a demolition derby Saturday.If you goFairgrounds admission fees: Children 5 and younger are free; $3 for ages 6 to 18; $5 for adults.
