Being worldly this Friday at the southern New Jersey shore is an easy task. From wine tasting to an Irish celebration and even a boat cruise - you can have it all.
If you consider yourself a person of the sea, there's no time like early fall to take a boat cruise. This boat cruise, however, won't be your average shuffleboard and late-night buffet. This boat cruise is being sponsored by 102.7 WJSE-FM, and it also has an '80s dance party theme.
Join in on all of the fun with this area's leading alternative rock radio station alongside Coors Light and hop aboard Captain Bob's Starfish Boat at 43rd Street and the bay in Sea Isle City. Boarding begins at 6:15 p.m., and the Starfish sets sail at 7 p.m. This party on the southern New Jersey waterways includes a cash bar with Coors Light drink specials throughout the evening, as well as free food and live karaoke. WSJE also reminds all attendees to dress to impress in your favorite and most stunning '80s gear.
The boat cruise lasts until approximately 11 p.m.. For some of you party animals, that's just not long enough. After putting your feet on solid ground, make those feet run to La Costa Lounge, located at 40th and Landis avenues, for an exclusive afterparty. For those who were already on the boat, La Costa is waiving the cover charge for you, so now there's even more reason to keep on celebrating.
Another way to celebrate this Friday is by bringing in a little of that Irish spirit to your night by beginning the countdown to St. Patrick's Day. No pub is more anxious for March than Trinity Pub inside The Pier Shops at Caesars Atlantic City as Friday marks its "Halfway To St. Paddy's Day" party.
It wouldn't be a St. Paddy's party without fabulous drink specials, and even some delicious food specials, too, but what really makes this party roll is the rock. Local Irish band The Snakes are bringing their Irish soul-meets-folk rock sound to the Trinity for this special event. You can expect to hear original Irish tunes like "Wild Colonial Boy," "I'll Tell Me Ma" and "Rainy Night in Soho," as well as covers by some of your favorite classic rockers like Johnny Cash, Wilson Pickett, The Traveling Wilburys and Van Morrison. The party goes from 9 p.m. to midnight. For more info, call the Trinity at 609-345-6900.
Maybe your heart's not in Ireland this Friday, and that's OK because The Pier Shops at Caesars have one very educational and very tasty night in store. "Uncorked" is The Pier's largest wine tasting event, featuring wines from California, Oregon, Washington, France, Japan, New Zealand, Italy and Australia. Wine tasters can enjoy a free glass of wine at the Pier restaurant of their choice, as well as a souvenir sampling glass, live piano music, and specially paired hors d'oeuvres from Buddakan and The Continental.
"Uncorked" does not only include The Pier's world-class dining, either. The Pier's 80 high-end, stellar retail shops are also taking part by portraying their latest and greatest looks for the fall season. This event happens this Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at The Pier or Ticketmaster at 800-736-1420 or www.ticketmaster.com.
