Homeowners who filed claims through their flood-insurance policies after Hurricane Sandy have until Oct. 30 to file any corrections or supplemental claims.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency, which runs the National Flood Insurance Program, typically sets a 60-day deadline from the initial claim for the supplemental claims. However, the deadline was extended to one year following the disaster declaration because Hurricane Sandy was a major event, FEMA spokesman Alberto Pillot said.

Thousands of homeowners have filed supplemental claims because they have found additional damage.
