The Pisiechko family of Northeast Philadelphia was watching the show by the dunes as a Spitfire MK18 jet did stunts in the near distance. Everyone on the beach was wowed, but Jen Pisiechko had a special tie to pilot Jim Beasley Jr.: they work together in the same law office building in Philadelphia.

"From what I know, he's always been a daredevil," said Pisiechko, who was checking out the airshow with her husband Bill, son Chris, 11, and daughter Emmy, 9.

Bob and Joan Burns of Medford were excited grandparents standing in front of the "Boardwalk Empire" facade by Boardwalk Hall, anxiously awaiting their grandson's swearing in to the Air Force that afternoon.

They said Cole Lucas, 18, of Upper Pittsgrove, Salem County, would be the latest in a line of family members in the service.

"That's the kind of airplane I flew," said Bob Burns, a pilot in the Korean War, pointing up to the sky at a team of vintage jets flying overhead.
