Atlantic City is among 12 police departments in the state that added to their ranks Wednesday.

Eight officers for the resort were among 29 who graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy. The addition still has the city below its aim of a 330-officer minimum in the department.

The graduates heading to the Atlantic City Police Department include Michael Garofalo, who is No. 1 in the class and also received the vehicle operations and physical fitness awards. The academic award went to Atlantic City's Timothy Richvalsky, who is a military veteran.
