LITTLE EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — An early morning raid at a township apartment on Radio Road resulted in the arrest of two Atlantic County men who were in possession of 50 bags of heroin, authorities said.

The arrest of Pawali L. Hood, 22, and Joseph Snapp III, 23, are the first for the new Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Southern Task Force, Prosecutor Joseph Coronato said.

Coronato formed the southern unit last month along with a unit in northern Ocean County to fight what he says is a heroin epidemic in the region. Last month, nine people died in an eight-day period in Ocean County from heroin overdoses.
