A Ventnor man was injured when his vehicle crashed into a home Tuesday morning in Brigantine.

The accident occurred at about 7:08 a.m., when a vehicle driven by Michael Sumpter Jr., 22, left the roadway and struck a residence in the 4400 block of Brigantine Boulevard, Brigantine police Lt. Jim Bennett said.

“There was enough damage to the home that a contractor was called to do an emergency shoring up,” Bennett said in a written statement.

Sumpter was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, in Atlantic City due to injuries sustained in the crash. He was treated and released.

Bennett said the accident was still under investigation. No charges or summonses had been issued yet.
