(The can't-miss events of the next few days of the high school sports season.)

Boys track and field

The 70th annual Bridgeton Relays

9 a.m. Saturday at Bridgeton

This is the state's oldest relay meet. Olympian Carl Lewis and NBA great Wilt Chamberlain are among the notable athletes to compete in this event. Bridgeton, which features one of the nation's top scholastic shot putters in Braheme Days Jr., is the defending small-schools champion. Egg Harbor Township is the defending large-schools champion. EHT senior Curtis Fitzpatrick was named the meet's outstanding track performer as a junior last year.

Baseball

Buena Regional (6-0)

at Egg Harbor Township (2-3)

4 p.m. today

Buena is the only undefeated Cape-Atlantic League team. The Chiefs reached the state Group II final last season. Few teams in the region have played as tough a schedule as EHT. The Eagles feature shortstop Troy Dixon, who will attend St. John's University in New York on a baseball scholarship.

Boys tennis

Cumberland Regional (5-0)

at Kingsway Regional (4-1)

4 p.m. today

Cumberland will meet its old Tri-County Conference Royal Division foe. The Colts moved to the Diamond Division this season and are undefeated. Kingsway should be a good measure for Cumberland and its chances at a South Jersey Group III playoff run.

Softball

Rancocas Valley Tournament

Saturday and Sunday at the Rancocas Valley Sports Complex

Hammonton, St. Joseph, Buena Regional, Vineland and Absegami will all be participating in this prestigious invitational. Buena and Vineland face off on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in an all-local first-round game. The first two rounds are on Saturday with semifinals and finals scheduled for Sunday.
