The Southern Regional High School girls indoor track and field team won the team championship at the Ocean County Relays at the John Bennett Indoor Sports Complex in Toms River on Saturday.

The Rams won five events and scored 79 points. Toms River North was second with 53 and Lacey Township third with 27. The Southern boys team placed fifth.

Brianna Angellella anchored the 4x200- and 4x400-meter relays for the Rams. Bailey Decker, Amaysia Lake, Kelly Fay and Angellella won the 800 relay in 1 minute, 50.38 seconds. Fay, Decker, Melana Hammel and Angellella won the 1,600 relay in 4:14.86.

Southern also won the 4x800 relay (Abby Harris, Jenna Ritchie, Courtney Muraczewski and Hammel in 9:58.3) and the shuttle-hurdle relay (Tori Simkins, Kelly Knudsen, Darien Daniels and Lake in 33.35).

In the field events, Samantha Burns and Nicola Dragonetti teamed up to win the pole vault with a combined 18 feet, 6 inches.

Lacey Township’s Amanda Magliola, Rebecca Martin, Kaitlyn Elias and Danielle Leavitt won the sprint-medley relay in 4:18.4.

On the boys side, Southern won the 4x800 relay. Nicholas Nocco, William Seddon, Michael Evans and Cody Raynor finished in 8:33.13. Central Regional won the team title.
