Gas prices continued to drop this week after a historic increase in gas prices to start the year.
AAA reports the national average price of a gallon of gasoline was $3.71 Friday – a decrease of six cents from a week ago and five cents less than a year ago.
The average price in the state was $3.56 a gallon a drop of five cents from a week ago and six cents less than the price a year ago.
“Relief at the gas pump is welcome news for motorists who paid the highest prices for gasoline ever for the months of January and February,” said Tracy Noble, spokesperson for AAA Mid-Atlantic, in a statement.
The organization expects prices to continue to drop this month due to falling crude oil prices and work at refineries finishing up to supply more gas.
