Music, and music talk, as Bay-Atlantic returns to Stockton

Whatever the Bay-Atlantic Symphony plays in its concerts these days, the program usually opens with a "Conversation With the Conductor." Jed Gaylin, the orchestra's maestro, takes questions from the crowd at 1 p.m., an hour before the music starts.

And today's music features pieces by Maurice Ravel, Samuel Barber, Richard Strauss and Franz Schubert, plus the singing of soprano soloist Jennifer Casey Cabot, right.

Following the intermission, "Romance is in the air with intoxicating love songs by Richard Strauss and Schubert's delicious Fifth Symphony," the orchestra promises.

If You Go: Showtime is 2 p.m. and the conversation with Gaylin, the conductor, starts 1 p.m. at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey's Performing Arts Center, on the campus, off Jimmie Leeds Road in Galloway Township. Tickets are $30 for adults or $20 for kids ages 12 and younger. For more details, call 609-652-9000 or see Stockton.edu/PAC
