Family: Married to Heather, with boys Tyler, 12, Tanner, 11, and Connor, 9; and a daughter, Lexi, 5

Company: Glenmede, Philadelphia office

Position: Director of family wealth

Glenmede was founded in 1956 by the four children of Joseph Pew, the family that founded Sun Oil Co. It was formed to serve as investment manager and trustee for charitable interests set up by the family.

The firm branched out and started doing wealth management for outside clients as well. We’re still doing work for Pew, but for a lot of clients as well.

Since Glenmede was formed as a trust company, we perform fiduciary duties for estates as well. Our clients are individuals, multi-generation families, and institutions and foundations.

Glenmede is privately owned and independent, so we can put our heads down and focus on our clients.

We focus exclusively on investment and wealth management, not on making loans or selling insurance or anything like that. We can compete with larger firms on expertise, but still have a small-firm feel and good client-to-employee ratio.

I’m coming in as director of the family wealth practice, dealing with higher-net-worth families, usually clients with complexity and/or multigenerational issues.

I’m also working with their other advisers, attorneys, CPAs, insurance agents. We position ourselves to be the ones that have the pulse of everything.

Within my team, there is a wealth advisory, investment and fiduciary expertise. My role is to be the main contact for the client and tie all of it together to make sure we’re serving the client properly.

Entry: I was at Goldman Sachs, advising on the same issues in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Prior to Goldman, I spent 10 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Philadelphia. I was a director there and handled all the taxes and planning for a client portfolio. I developed an expertise on estate planning matters.

About me: We do a lot of boating, crabbing, fishing and tubing with the kids. We love the boardwalk. I play basketball and golf, but it’s kind of limited when you have four kids and a full-time job.
