A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) was scheduled to start for the Lynchburg HillCats (Braves) at the Wilmington (Del.) Blue Rocks (Royals) in the Class-A Advanced Carolina League on Friday night, but the game was postponed.
He is scheduled to start today at 6:05 p.m. at Wilmington.
Holland is 4-5 with a 4.83 ERA in 16 starts. In 87 2/3 innings, he has given up 96 hits and 39 walks while striking out 56.
Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) was 1-for-3 for the Tennessee Smokies (Cubs) in a 10-inning, 2-0 win in the first game of a double-A Southern League doubleheader against the Jackson Generals (Mariners).
Szczur, who played center field and led off, was hitting .291 with 49 runs scored, 37 RBIs and 20 steals in 85 games through Game 1. Entering Friday’s doubleheader, his on-base percentage was .358.
On Thursday night, Szczur went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in a 4-1 win over Jackson.
Darren Ford (Vineland) did not play for the Indianapolis Indians (Pirates) in 1-0 win over the Louisville Bats (Reds) in the triple-A International League. Ford is hitting .207 with 19 runs scored, 11 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in 50 games.
Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) is 6-6 with a 4.40 ERA in 17 starts for the Clinton LumberKings (Mariners) in the Class-A Midwest League. In 90 innings, he has given up 87 hits and 33 walks with 60 strikeouts. His next start has not yet been announced.
Darren Fischer (Cumberland Regional) did not pitch for the Princeton Rays in a 2-1 loss to the Greeneville Astros in a rookie-level Appalachian League game.
