Somers Point Police warned Tuesday that underage drinkers should plan to stay sober instead at Bayfest.

The 25th annual Bayfest celebration takes place in Somers Point on Saturday. Chief Michael Boyd said that any juveniles gathering in large groups will be moved along by police, preventing problems with disorderly behavior and drinking. He said any juveniles found in possession of alcohol will be charged, and youths should be aware that possible results include a court appearance and loss of driving privileges.

“The goal is for everyone to enjoy the day and get home safe,” Boyd said.

This year’s Somers Point Bayfest will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 27, rain or shine, on Bay Avenue in Somers Point. For more information, see http://www.somerspointbayfest.org.
