Jay Leno- Stand-up comedians are an interesting breed. It seems that no matter how high they manage to blast their rocket into Hollywood superstardom, they always come back down to earth and wind up standing on a stage telling jokes in a club- and they never seem bummed about it. Jay Leno (much like his fellow car loving buddy Jerry Seinfeld) manned the helm of The Tonight Show since 1992. It doesn’t get much higher profile than that, and simply by maintaining such an impressive tenure, he has etched himself into American pop culture forever. Now as the farewell fanfare begins to die down, Leno can casually head back to the stages that made him who he was in the first place-a really talented stand-up comic. Jay Leno, Caesars, 9 p.m. April 25. TBD.

Staind- And now, presenting a treat for music lovers of questionable pedigree: Staind. When they came on the radar in 1999, Staind managed to do a great job appealing to every guy with a tribal armband tattoo and a C minus GPA. Things haven’t changed much since then either. Frontman Aaron Lewis’ vocal style essentially amounts to a hybrid impression of every 90’s grunge singer that came before him (a bit of Eddie…a dash of Kurt…a pinch of Layne...etc.). Of course the same can be said for just about all singers in the wildly derivative “post grunge” genre (Creed and Nickleback aren’t winning any awards for their groundbreaking vocal originality). All of these bands do manage to sell a lot of records, but then again McDonalds sells a lot of hamburgers too. Expect to stand next to a guy in a Linkin Park t shirt while swaying to mid-tempo torch songs peppered with some simplistic, conservative chest beating all courtesy of Mr. Lewis and the boys. It should be a hoot. Staind, Tropicana, Showroom, 8 p.m. May 10. $55, $75, $85.
