It looks like it's going to be an unbelievable spring and summer when it comes to headliner entertainment in Atlantic City.

Hot off a much buzzed-about, sold-out concert by Jay-Z, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa seems to have released the floodgates this week with a slew of big-time headliner announcements.

For starters, the Kings of Leon, one of the biggest rock bands on the planet, will kick off its much-anticipated summer tour at Borgata June 5. Of the 35-plus dates that have been announced, Borgata's Event Center is by far the smallest venue on the tour, which will mostly play to outdoor amphitheatres.

The Kings of Leon score is reminiscent of last year's No Doubt tour, which kicked off its summer trek at Borgata.

"Kicking off the summer with the Kings of Leon by opening one of the most prominent tours of the year is extremely exciting for Borgata," said Joe Lupo, senior vice president of operations for Borgata. "Our entertainment program continues to bring the biggest and newest stars of music in working with our friends at Live Nation."

Another amazing show should be the return of Sting on July 9. The Police frontman will not only bring his arsenal of solo and Police hits back to Borgata, but he will also bring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with him. Sounds amazing.

One of my favorites, Weezer, also will return to Borgata May 1, and former late-night talk show host Conan O'Brien will bring his quirky tour to the Event Center on May 30. That show has already sold out.

Other noteworthy Borgata concerts include "American Idol" judge Kara Dioguardi (April 10), Johnny Rotten's Public Image, Ltd. (May 15); former Guns 'n Roses and Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash (May 22); and guitar god Jeff Beck on June 5.

But Borgata isn't the only one getting in on the entertainment action.

Its booking partner, Live Nation, will bring Lady Gaga to Boardwalk Hall July 4. Lady Gaga was originally scheduled to play at Borgata in January, but she had to cancel because of exhaustion and dehydration. Local fans won't miss out in the long run, however, as she brings her summer tour - which is possibly the biggest tour of the summer - to Atlantic City for more than 12,000 people to enjoy.

Harrah's Entertainment properties throughout Atlantic City are also going all out.

Boardwalk Hall also will be jammed on April 3 when Nickelback and Shinedown rock the joint in a Caesars Atlantic City-sponsored concert. Caesars also will sponsor the Black Eyed Peas at Boardwalk Hall on Aug. 7, which will surely be a top summer show.

Diva Diana Ross returns to Caesars Atlantic City May 21, followed by Elvis Costello and The Imposters April 16, Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band July 3, and country legend Willie Nelson making a long overdue return Aug. 6.

Other big shows includes: Paramore at Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort April 30; the Barenaked Ladies May 8 at the Tropicana Casino and Resort; and Wynonna Judd at Harrah's Resort oMay 15.

Celebrity sightings

Man, can Jay-Z draw a crowd. Not only did the hip-hop performer sell out Borgata March 13, but he attracted some major celebrities, including Motown legend Stevie Wonder, who surprised Borgata executives by making an impromptu visit, Olympic medalist Michael Phelps, former Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon, and "Real Housewives of New Jersey" stars Jacqueline Laurita and Teresa Giudice. After the show, Jay-Z, Wonder and Robin Thicke, who also was performing at Borgata, had dinner at the Old Homestead Steak House and watched the televised Manny Pacquiao fight. DJ Samantha Ronson joined the group before heading over for her set at mur.mur, where Bobby Flay, fashion designer Charlotte Ronson, Phelps, Thicke and Angela from MTV's "Jersey Shore" partied late. Finally, Beyonce arrived, and Jay-Z and their entourage drew a crowd of more than 50 people playing blackjack in Borgata's high-limit salon.

Also, Lynne and Frank Curtin of "The Real Housewives of Orange County" made an appearance at Tropicana March 13. The reality TV couple stayed for the weekend at the resort and even appeared on Trop Live Radio, where they interacted with fans and discussed their show.

And "90210" heartthrob Trevor Donovan hosted a party at Dusk at Caesars on March 13. He was joined by friend Eric Fellows from "Days of Our Lives." They had dinner at Mia, watched the televised Pacquiao fight and hung out with some female fans at their VIP table inside Dusk.
