All three Trump Entertainment properties in Atlantic City will be entertainment destinations this summer as each casino will feature long-running revue shows.
For starters, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino will bring back "V: The Ultimate Variety Show" to Atlantic City after a long hiatus. Previously staged at the Tropicana Casino and Resort, "V" currently has its own theater at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
The show, which will run from June 29 to Sept. 5, will feature a comedic juggler, magic, a musical act, a ventriloquist and a quick-change dance couple.
"It's the return of a classic variety show," says Steve Gietka, vice president of entertainment for Trump. "It will be very customer friendly and family friendly, and it will give people something laugh about when they leave the theater. It has all the elements that will work in Atlantic City."
Trump Marina Hotel Casino will see the return of Joe Boccuti and his show "Hypno-sterical 2." Running from July 1 to Sept. 5, the hypnotist will be back mesmerizing audiences and making them laugh with some R-rated antics.
"We are going to punch up the show from a production standpoint," Gietka said. "The nature of the show is that it's different every night, but there will be a DJ off stange to react musically to what is going on in the room. We are keeping the core strengths of the show, in particular Joe's abilities to do comedic hypnosis, and hopefully make it even more of a party atmosphere for everyone, including pre-show."
And summer wouldn't be the same without a cirque show at a Trump property, and Gietka is in negotiations with a cirque troupe to return the popular format to Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, following successful runs of Cirque Dreams' "Holidaze" and "Pandemonia." Gietka says a cirque show will run June 29 to Sept. 5.
Celebrity sightings
Dusk Atlantic City keeps piling up celebrity appearances. The club, located inside Caesars Atlantic City, recently hosted The Far East Movement, which performed its hit, "Girls on the Dance Floor," to a packed crowd.
The Veronicas also performed a soulful performance at Dusk, playing their hits and finishing with a cover of Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby One More Time." The band also offered a sneak peak of its new song "Victim," which has not been released yet.
Dusk also hosted Tyson Ritter, who drank everything from Dom Perignon to Ultimat Vodka to Patron. The All American Rejects member performed for the crowd, but seemed to have a lot more fun pouring shots for himself and guests.
Harrah's Resort hosted the annual Maxwell Football awards dinner last weekend. Super Bowl champions Drew Brees and Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints were in attendance along with other top football players, celebrities and journalists.
The Tropicana brought in Holly Montag from MTV's "The Hills." Montag strolled through the casino and partied at Providence.
Finally, charater actor Bill Cobbs, who has appeared in everything from "I Know What You Did Last Summer" to "The Drew Carey Show" was seen having dinner at Gallagher's Steakhouse inside Resorts Atlantic City.
