Happy New Year everyone! It should be another memorable New Year’s Eve in Atlantic City with plenty of options for everyone young and old and in between (see suggestions below).
But if you party too hearty on New Year’s Eve, Caesars Atlantic City is offering a fix for that nasty hangover by celebrating “National Hangover Day” with a DVD release party of the popular film “The Hangover.”
Hosted by Caesars and Warner Home Video, the top-grossing comedy this year will be screened for free at 7 p.m. in the Circus Maximus Theater on Friday, Jan. 1.
Attendees of the screening will get much more than a free movie as there will be giveaways that include Blu-ray and DVD copies of the flick, movie merchandise, Caesars hotel stay packages and more.
Food and drink specials will be available right down the hall at Mia, the award-winning restaurant created by Philadelphia restaurateurs Georges Perrier and Chris Scarduzio. And Toga Bar, located right in the middle of the casino, will also whip up some drink specials, too.
New year’s party
suggestions
Atlantic City is chock full of awesome options for New Year’s Eve. So how do you choose?
I sorted through them to help make your decision a little easier.
Trump Marina Hotel Casino is always a fun place to celebrate the New Year, especially since its main attraction is free. Check out the New Year’s Eve Dance Party in The Atrium, and partygoers will be treated to party favors and a midnight champagne toast at no cost. DJ Frank C will spin your favorite music, and a cash bar is available.
But if you want to reach into your pocket, The Wave at the Marina will once again bring in Don’t Call Me Francis. Tickets, priced at $75 per person in advance, $100 at the door, include an open bar from 9 to 11 p.m. and a champagne toast. A $300 per couple ticket includes reserved seating and a bottle of champagne.
Over at Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, Louie Louie, who is known for his outrageous covers and costumes, will entertain in the East Tower from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The free show will be hosted by Michael James of WZXL 100.7-FM and includes free party favors and a free entry into the $25,000 New Year’s Eve Sweepstakes.
Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort has parties at both ends of the spectrum. For the younger crowd, D’Jais Crew, DJ Kipples, Chris Moody, John Farrugio, Frank Sementa, McCharlie Cavallo, BonSolid and the D’Jais Staff will ring in 2010 with a $100 party that includes a two-hour open bar and DJ Sizzahandz.
Another midnight countdown will cost you zero dollars at the Tropicana Casino and Resort’s The Quarter. Go to Fiesta Plaza. Where there will be free noisemakers, hats, balloons and music by DJ Jimmy Jam and dancers.
Upstairs in Alto Vino, Trop regular Beth Tinnon will sing in the premier wine bar all night, plus there will be a countdown and free champagne toast at midnight
For a dance club experience, Providence will offer a five-hour premium open bar from 9:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., hors d’oeuvres from 9:30 to 11 p.m., large projections that show the New York City ball drop and multiple DJs for $150. VIP table packages start at $250.
Boogie Nights at Resorts Atlantic City gives partiers a nice option. You can pay a flat $40 to get into the ’70s and ’80s dance party, or plunk down an additional $58 per person to receive open bar from 9 to 11 p.m.
The House of Blues at Showboat Casino-Hotel’s “Rock Star New Year’s Experience” features a deluxe room, admission into the members-only Foundation Room, concierge service and free bottle of champagne, two general admission tickets to see O.A.R. at the House of Blues, and VIP wristbands for the concert to pass the line for $799, add $200 for a HOB suite.

Caesars Atlantic City’s Dusk will bring in Leighton Meester of “Gossip Girl” fame for a $100 bash that includes an open bar from 10 p.m. to midnight.
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa doesn’t disappoint, either, with three parties under one roof.
At mur.mur, a $100 will get you in the club and a complimentary drink. The same deal goes for mixx, with a $60 cover charge. If live music is your thing, the Gypsy Bar is your best — and cheapest — bet. Admission is $35, and the bands are DVS and Star 69.
Finally, bad boy Danny Bonaduce will host a bash at Bally’s Atlantic City’s Palace Theater. The cheap $20 ticket features music by the band Foster Child. A $439 package includes admission for two into the party and and hotel room.

New Year’s
dinner, dance parties
The older crowd will surely want to check out Jerry “The Geator with the Heater” Blavat’s annual New Year’s Eve bash, this year in the Taj Mahal’s Tiara Ballroom. With music from doo-wop to Motown, tickets are $125 and include dinner buffet, open bar, dancing and more.
Over at the Foundation Room inside the House of Blues at Showboat Casino-Hotel, a special New Year’s Eve menu will be offered for $75 that includes a wild greens salad; chocolate butternut bisque; intermezzo of berry sorbet; choice of lobster paella, surf and turf with an Angus filet of beef and grilled langoustine, roasted guinea hen or white truffle risotto; and a dessert tasting.
For an additional $50, you can buy a dinner-show package that will also include tickets to see O.A.R. after dinner.
If you don’t feel like venturing into Atlantic City, the Atlantic City Country Club in Northfield, owned by Harrah’s Entertainment, will offer a nice night of dancing for an affordable price. The $35 ticket includes appetizers and one drink ticket, as well as DJ entertainment. A la carte dinner reservations are also available.
For more dining options, go to our Dining section on Page 24.
More partying
If you are skipping or adding to your New Year’s Eve festivities by partying all weekend, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is easing the financial pain with a room package worth noting. Classic rooms are being offered for $270 on Saturday, Jan. 2, plus you get a $50 food and beverage credit.
Mariah Carey will be at the casino that evening and will cap the night off with an afterparty at mur.mur with her husband, DJ Nick Cannon, at mur.mur.
The Loft debuts
Check out The Pool at Harrah’s on New Year’s Eve and be one of the first to experience The Loft, a $1 million upgrade that should help The Pool become even more successful.
The Loft features a new double-sided bar that will serve patrons inside year-round, and outside when weather permits. The bar area will be a communal area, but the rest of The Loft will be for those looking for a high-end experience.
Expanding on its downstairs cabana concept, The Loft will feature more spacious cabanas with added amenities such as flat-screen televisions, video game consoles, stocked refrigerators and larger, more expensive furniture.
There will also be areas in The Loft that people can pay to hang out in outside of the cabanas that feature Las Vegas-style daybeds and ottomans. And there will be two cages for cage dancing
