The Atlantic County Institute of Technology presents its eighth annual Daffodil Dinner at the Carriage House in Galloway Township on Friday, March 27. The dinner boasts a gourmet meal from the students of the institute's Culinary Academy and Carriage House Executive Chef George Galati. All proceeds benefit student activities for the Academy students.
For $100 a person, attendees experience a dinner that is three days in the making. Galati explains that students take part in every part of the event, from prepping the meal to serving from entre stations consisting of some ingredients donated by the Chispanic Food Company in Egg Harbor City.
"The students are really excited about it," says Galati. "It's good for them to come into the work environment to see if they really want to do this."
At 6 p.m., the reception begins with appetizers such as grilled veggie platters and tuna tartar with plantain chips and coconut milk.
Dinner is then served from stations that students will be manning throughout the night, where attendees can ask students what they are serving.
Featured are entrees such as mini sliders with Kobe burgers, salt-crusted Grouper and a taco station with pulled pork. There's also a 120-pound roasted pig, which the students will serve. For dessert, there will be assorted mousses and cakes as well as a dessert station with strawberries and chocolate fondue for dipping.
