Backstreet's Back

Some pre-teens and teens lose their minds these days over the Jonas Brothers, but a decade ago, the Backstreet Boys caused the same frenzy.

Singers Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson sold more than 75 million albums worldwide. Two of their CDs, "Backstreet Boys" in 1997 and "Millennium" in 1999, each sold more than 10 million copies.

Backstreet Boys, who last performed in Atlantic City in July 2005 at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, return to the resort to promote their sixth full-length studio CD, "Unbreakable," which was released in October. The CD includes production by Grammy-winner John Shanks, who worked previously with Kelly Clarkson and Bon Jovi among others.

Carter, Dorough, Littrell and McLean took part in a telephone press conference with the media before their tour started. More

Words Matter

Veteran jazz artist Herbie Hancock's latest album, "River: The Joni Letters" (Verve), is typical of his genre-defying recordings and something altogether different: To honor the lyrically-driven work of iconic singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, the pianist, composer and arranger put the focus on her words, and bent the music to suit them.

Stone Temple Pilots put their differences aside

People may be calling this summer's Stone Temple Pilots tour a reunion outing. But that's probably not the word guitarist Dean DeLeo would use, even though in the five years since the group's last show, the four band members moved on to different projects.

Singer-songwriter KT Tunstall makes Atlantic City debut

You may not know KT Tunstall by name, but some of her songs are probably in your head: the distinctive rhythmic shuffle and woo-hoo of "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," and the jaunty "Suddenly I See" featured in the opening of "The Devil Wears Prada."

Killer Concert / Killer's latest CD reflects wider range of influences

The Killers' hugely popular first CD, "Hot Fuss" really didn't give fans much of a sense that the band was from Las Vegas. In fact, the group was most often compared to British acts for the new wavish keyboards and dancy feel of its music. But if one considers Vegas a city with a neon-bright, big-as-life personality, where nothing is too glitzy, fun awaits at every turn and living large is a way of life, then the Killers may have truly gone Vegas with its current CD, "Sam's Town." At least that's how Killers singer Brandon Flowers sees "Sam's Town."
