Beyonce announced she will perform for three days over Memorial Day weekend for Revel's grand opening. She is the first confirmed headliner at the new $2.4 billion casino resort.
The superstar performer is calling the series a summer kickoff party that will take place in the 5,050-seat Ovation Hall at Revel. Beyonce will hold three exclusive concerts 9 p.m. May 25, and 8 p.m. May 26 and May 27. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, at ticketmaster.com.
The star dropped the news on her Facebook page at about 11 a.m. Monday, hinting at a performance sure to excite her fans. According to the post, "Beyonce is getting back to business live on stage at Revel" with an all-new show.
Revel opens its doors April 2 for a soft opening in a lead-up to the heavily anticipated grand opening May 25. Ovation Hall is one of two performance spaces at the beachfront property. Beyonce is the first confirmed headliner, but it is unclear if she will be the first to perform at the megaresort.
The 16-time Grammy winner last performed in Atlantic City in 2007 at Trump Taj Mahal. After finishing her tour "I am…," the pop superstar took time off for herself. It will be Beyonce's first live concert since giving birth to baby Blue Ivy Carter with mega-rapper and husband Jay-Z.
In true Beyonce fashion, the singer announced her pregnancy live on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2011. After finishing her song "Love on Top," she unbuttoned her jacket to reveal her new baby bump, which prompted a standing ovation from a roaring crowd.
Beyonce's newest album, "4," also was recorded live at Roseland Ballroom in New York City. It has so far been the only time she has performed the album live. The album includes hits "Run the World (Girls)" and "Best Thing I Never Had." In 2010, she won a Grammy for Song of the Year for the uptempo number "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it)," off the double-sided album "I am … Sasha Fierce." The Grammy was one of six she won that year.
The powerhouse singer got her start fronting the girl group "Destiny's Child," releasing hits such as "Independent Women" "Survivor" and "Say My Name." Other top hits by the singer include "Irreplaceable" and "Crazy in Love," a collaboration with Jay-Z.
Revel spokeswoman Lisa Johnson says ticket prices are not yet available.
