Turkey Trot, Festive Friday in Avalon
Work off that Thanksgiving dinner for a good cause. Avalon's first "Turkey Trot" will be held 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, the day after Thanksgiving. The 5K run and 1.5-mile walk will begin at 27th Street and Avalon Avenue. All proceeds will benefit the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children.
Registration and bib pick-up for the Turkey Trot can be picked up on race day starting at 7 a.m. in the Avalon Community Center, 3001 Avalon Ave. A link to online pre-registration is available at www.dillerblindhome.org/events/ or by emailing acoskey@dillerblindhome.org for a hard copy of the registration form. Registration is $30 the day of the event.
The 5K is a sanctioned USATFNJ Grand Prix event.
The Turkey Trot will kick off Festive Friday, Avalon's version of Black Friday. Festive Friday includes the return of an outdoor ice skating rink at 23rd and Dune Drive as well as other family activities offered in stores and restaurants throughout the day.
Cape Shore Chorale concert
The Cape Shore Chorale, directed by Scott J. Breiner, will present Vivaldi's "Gloria" and selections from Bach's "Jesu, Priceless Treasure" 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at Grace Lutheran Church.
The Middle Township High School Advanced Choir will join the Chorale in "Gloria" at Grace Lutheran Church, Shore Road at Dawes and Meyran avenues in Somers Point.
The Chorale also will perform with the MTHS Advanced Choir at their winter concert 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center in Cape May Court House. For more information, call the church at 609-927-3082.
Messiah Sing-a-long
The 25th annual Community Messiah Sing-a-long, a free community event, will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Cape Island Baptist Church, Columbia and Guerney streets, Cape May. Refreshments will be served following the program.

Cape May Stage offers 'A Tuna Christmas'
The Cape May Stage holiday production of "A Tuna Christmas," the sequel to the hit comedy "Greater Tuna," will open Friday, Nov. 23, and run through Dec. 30, at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse in Cape May.
The amusing plot of "A Tuna Christmas" centers on the town's annual Christmas yard display contest, won 14 times in a row by Vera Carp. A mysterious "Christmas phantom," known for vandalizing the yard displays, threatens to throw the contest into turmoil. New York-based actors Turner Crumbley and Jody Cook play the entire cast of more than 20 eccentric characters of both genders and various ages.
The Robert Shackleton Playhouse is located at 405 Lafayette St., in downtown Cape May. Showtimes for "A Tuna Christmas" are 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors and $15 for students. The show runs for two hours with intermission. Thursday, Dec. 6, is Pay-What-You-Can Night. Sunday, Dec. 9, is a half-price senior matinee.
