Atlantic County Parks

Register now for free nature classes for 3- to 5-year-old preschoolers at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Aug. 2 at Fox Nature Center, Atlantic County Park at Estell Manor, Route 50 south of Mays Landing.

Free how-to talk on paddling the Great Egg Harbor River by watershed administrator Fred Akers 7 to 8 p.m. Aug. 3 at Fox Nature Center, Atlantic County Park at Estell Manor; preregister. Call 609-625-7000, ext. 5431.

Cape May

Bird Observatory

Guided sunset bird and nature cruises 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays from Somers Point municipal pier; $25 adults, $15 ages 5 to 12; call for times and to preregister.

Weekly birding (and other) trips July 26 to Aug. 1. Cost $10; show and go. Thursday: Beginners bird walk 8:30 a.m. at Cape May Point State Park; meet at Hawk Watch platform. Friday: Cape May Migratory Bird Refuge at 6:30 p.m.; meet at lot, Sunset Boulevard. Saturday: Cape May Point State Park at 7:30 a.m.; at platform. Nature photography walk 7:30 a.m.; at platform. Sunday: Belleplain State Forest at 10:30 a.m.; at forest office. Monday: Cape May Migratory Bird Refuge with author Pete Dunne at 7:30 a.m.; meet at lot. Cape May National Wildlife Refuge

Free nature walks at 9 a.m. Saturdays at Two Mile Beach Unit, Ocean Drive south of Wildwood Crest. Call 215-341-1044.

Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge

Guided birding and nature walks 8 to 10 a.m. Fridays, starting at visitor center, off Route 9 in Oceanville, Galloway Township.

Beach geology walk 10 a.m. Thursdays at Holgate unit, starting at bulkhead at south end of Long Beach Island. Also at Holgate: Wilderness walk 10 a.m. Fridays; shorebird walk 10 a.m. Saturdays; beachcombing 10 a.m. Sundays.

of Cape May

N.J. Audubon’s Nature Center of Cape May, 1600 Delaware Ave., has exhibits and observation tower; admission is free. Kayak trips many days. Call 609-898-8848.
