The Big Cheese Finale?Live music may be coming to an end at Le Grand Fromage

This weekend, bring out your inner child, your inner rock star, your inner thespian and your inner dance machine as the nightlife scene in southern New Jersey hosts an array of special events.
A local, live music favorite hangout is halting - temporarily, we hope - its live performances. Le Grande Fromage in Atlantic City is hosting a finale that spans two weekends, and it starts on Friday, March 20. Corner Store Espionage and Juggernaut Drunk, two local bands that have graced The Big Cheese's stage in the past, plan to rock out to the fullest. Dave Freeman, a member of both bands, believes Le Grande Fromage is no longer hosting shows because of poor turnouts.
"Local bands aren't setting up enough shows, and out of town bands don't bring enough of a crowd; it's a bad combination," Freeman says. "There are rumors about what's going to happen, and if Le Grande Fromage will bring back live music, but we really need to bring more people out to the show every weekend."
With that in mind, Freeman, his bandmates and all those Big Cheese enthusiasts call on all southern New Jersey nightlifers to come see Corner Store Espionage and Juggernaut Drunk perform at 9 p.m. There is a $7 cover, but $20 will entitle you to LGF's famous All-You-Can-Drink beer special.
"It's going to be a great show - both weekends will be awesome," Freeman says. "It's really the best of the best in terms of local music. Everyone is coming out to play for maybe one last time."

In other rock 'n' roll news, Seven Stone is playing a show that's greater than your average local gig - these boys are opening for Bret Michaels at the House of Blues at Showboat Casino-Hotel on Friday. Seven Stone hopes its local followers support them as they warm up for the Poison frontman. The doors open at 8 p.m., and Seven Stone is set to rock at 9 p.m. Tickets for general admission are priced at $35 and $45. Calling all club-hoppers! Mixx inside Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is cranking out some of the hottest live DJs and musical stars this weekend. Paul Van Dyk is spinning his signature music Friday at 10 p.m. Tickets to catch him in the act are priced at $50 and going fast, so go to www.theborgata.com to get yours. And for the kid in all of us, stop by McKee's Irish Pub Friday to participate in the Egg Harbor City Playground Committee Fundraiser, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. The families in Egg Harbor City are hoping to raise enough funds to install a new playground on Buffalo Avenue, and you can help. They need $100,000 for playground equipment that is not only safe, but also disabled accessible. You can participate in this event at McKee's for a cover charge of $20, which includes roast beef, potato salad, tossed salad, fresh rolls, hot pasta and draft beer.
