Fitzpatrick's Crest Tavern is a year-round restaurant and bar in Wildwood Crest known for its homestyle cooking and extensive craft beer list.

Its owners, Tim and Lisa Fitzpatrick, are a big part of what makes the business successful, acting as its chefs and hand-selecting the rotating craft beers.

The lunch and dinner menu is innovative and eclectic, featuring an array of house favorites including the chicken pot pies ($7.99 Wednesdays), the Mardi Gras shrimp and the buck-a-shuck Cape May salt oysters (on special Thursdays and weekdays during happy hour, 2 to 6 p.m.).

Additional Thursday specials include BBQ and craft beer discounts.

Cask Ale and Craft Beers:

A specialty at Crest Tavern is its cask ale beer, brewed from traditional ingredients and matured in the cask from which it is served.

"It's fresh beer served out of a hand pump," Tim Fitzpatrick says. "Nobody else in the area does that."

The tavern also offers an extensive, rotating craft-beer selection with more than 21 beers on tap at a given time, including house favorites from Troegs Brewing Company, Dogfish Head Brewery and Tuckahoe Brewing Company.

Between the cask ale and the extensive craft beer line, Crest Tavern has become a destination for the beer enthusiast, Fitzpatrick says.

Happy hour is 2 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

NHL Center Ice:

Crest Tavern is a great place to watch any sports game. The tavern has 22 flat-screen TVs spread throughout the establishment with both NHL Center Ice and NFL Sunday Ticket DIRECTV packages. There is also food and drink specials during any gametime.
