Stained-glass artist Diane Flanegan's newest passion - fused glass - is featured in the current exhibit at the Cape May Artists' Cooperative Gallery, on display through Sept. 6. She shares the exhibit spotlight with her husband, painter Rich Flanegan.
Longtime residents of West Cape May, the Flanegans are working artists with a small studio set up in their home. Diane Flanegan is known for her custom-designed windows, which can be seen in homes throughout the Cape May and Wildwood area. Recently, her creativity has been channeled to a new outlet in fused glass, which she uses to create jewelry, barrettes, vessels and sculptural pieces.
Rich Flanegan is an award-winning artist and teacher who paints and draws in various media. His commissioned mural depicting the historic aspects of West Cape May is permanently on display in Borough Hall.
Both are longtime members of the Cape May Artists' Cooperative, located since 2009 in the West End Garage, 484 West Perry St., Cape May. The gallery represents a wide variety of artisans, including jewelers, photographers and painters, who have joined together to showcase and sell their works under one roof.
And for the rest of August, the Flanagans' works can also be seen, along with two other Artists' Co-op members - Catherine Bosna and Barbara Colosi - at the Lower Township Library, located at 2600 Bayshore Road in the Villas section of the township.
The Cape May Artists Cooperative Gallery is open daily. For hours and more information, call 609-770-8261.
