Solo exhibitions by three regional artists kick off SOMA NewArt Gallery’s first show of the 2014 season.

Artists Stephen Steinmetz, Leslie Martel and Carol King Hood were chosen for their diverse range, according to Gallery Director Janet Miller.

Featured in Gallery One is Steinmetz’s “SideShow,” a collection of new paintings, woodcarvings and dioramas that all center on the theme of entertainment. Steinmetz is a longtime resident of South Jersey.

“Just Desserts,” new watercolor paintings by Leslie Martel, are featured in Gallery Two. A resident of both Cape May and Palm Beach, Fla., Martel’s watercolors are all about food obsessions.

Carol King Hood’s new work entitled “Red,” hangs in Gallery Three. In this exhibit, she presents styles of Impressionism, Realism and Abstraction. Hood lives in Cape May Point.

The exhibits will be on view to May 26.

Atlantic County

The art gallery at Atlantic Cape Community College in Mays Landing will launch its reopening with a student exhibit that runs to May 16.
