The Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts opens its fall exhibition season this weekend by hosting two of the largest artist member organizations in the state: The New Jersey Chapter - American Artists Professional League Inc., and The Society of New Jersey Artists.
The shows kicks off with a free reception 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, which includes butlered appetizers, complimentary wine bar and the opportunity to speak with exhibiting artists.
The North Gallery will hold the NJAAPL's 2011 Fall Open State Juried Exhibition. This group specializes in traditional realism with media covering two- and three-dimensional design. This show is open to all New Jersey resident artists and includes a detailed and focused jurying process. Accepted work will be judged by Lucy Graves McVicker, a signature member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Club, Garden State Watercolor Society, New Jersey Watercolor Society and the Princeton Artists Alliance. More than $3,300 in award money will be given to the honored artists.
The Witt Gallery will feature members of the Society of New Jersey Artists. The Society, founded in 1948, is a cultural-arts group that hosts educational opportunities for its members, including demonstrations and workshops. The SNJA also provides exhibition opportunities for its members in a variety of locations across Southern Jersey.
The Associate Artist Alcove will exhibit the works of four of the RRCA's top female Associate Artist members. The display includes watercolors by Susan Rau, oils by Rae Jaffe, etchings and paintings by Maryann Cannon, and mixed media works by Diane Brown.
The Atrium space will feature paintings by Indira Servaia, who works in traditional subject matters, including a variety of two-dimensional media selections.
All of the exhibitions will remain on display to Oct. 15.

•The Noyes Museum of Art of The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey presents "Art at Night" Artist Talk: Kathy Johnston English, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 22 in conjunction with its Signature Artists exhibition.
