The holidays are over and things are getting back to normal. Recovering from the hectic holidays, events are winding down this month, but there are still plenty of beers out there to drink.

With a plethora of breweries now in the Garden State, I recommend paying a visit to these new venues, many of which are right in our area: Cape May, Tuckahoe, Tun Tavern, Ludlam Island, Glasstown, 7 Mile, Cold Spring, Garden State, Tomfoolery, Three 3’s, Ship Bottom. Those alone should provide several days of tasting. Check their pages for taproom hours and where to find their beers in the area.

Be sure to stop in at Vagabond Kitchen and Tap House in Atlantic City for their great selection of beers. Beer Manager Kevin Wiener gets the very best for his customers. Check out great varieties like Allagash Hibernius, 2015 Mad Elf, as well as a few coming from local Brotherton Brewing, including Drip Down IPA, IPA and an Imperial Oatmeal Porter.

While it may be a slow time of year, a few events are sneaking in this month.

From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, Passion Vines in Somers Point will hold a Goose Island Bourbon County Stout Vertical tasting. There will be samples of 2013 through 2016 Bourbon County and a 2013 Goose Island Barleywine saved for the occasion. This will most likely sell out quickly.

Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA is hitting the taps again and Charlies Bar in Somers Point will be hosting a tasting 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20. “120 on 1/20” will be a not-to-be-missed event. Enjoy this limited edition beer and some of Charlie’s legendary wings!

Slack Tide in Clermont celebrates its first year in business Saturday, Jan. 21, at the brewery. That day they will announce the arrival of a special beer brewed specifically for the occasion. They will also host a “Battle of the Brewers” series which will feature beers brewed by the staff. Clam Bake Brown already made it on the taps and next up is Mike’s Manatee Milk Stout. Look for three more offerings in the coming months. Check out their online store too at

Three 3’s in Hammonton will celebrate its first anniversary with a party on Jan. 28 and 29. No details yet, but check their Facebook page for updates.
