Television sitcoms have long been the inspiration for many popular slot machines - think "Cheers," "I Love Lucy," "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Bewitched." Now you can add "The Beverly Hillbillies" and its Millionaire Mile video slot machine to that list.
Based on the popular 1960s show, Beverly Hillbillies Millionaire Mile is currently available at Golden Nugget Atlantic City and Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort.
The setup: The base game has a standard five-reel, three-line configuration. Minimum bet on this penny version is 50 credits, with a maximum of 500 and bets of 100, 150 and 250 in between. The more you bet, the higher various gold and silver progressives climb, and the number of progressive jackpot opportunities increases, as well.
Periodically, following a winning combination, you can choose to enjoy video clips from the series, all accompanied by the bluegrass sounds of the show's theme song, "The Ballad of Jed Clampett."
Among the symbols in the base game are cast members J.D. "Jed" Clampett (Buddy Ebsen); Granny (Irene Ryan); Jed's daughter Elly May (Donna Douglas); and the son of Jed's cousin, Jethro Bodine (Max Baer Jr.). Beverly Hills banker Milburn Drysdale (Raymond Bailey) appears in the Clampetts In London Bonus (see below). Other symbols include a jug of moonshine, the jalopy in which Jethro drove the family to California, the family bloodhound Duke, Elly Mae's pet skunk Charlie and the shack they moved from. (Interestingly, it was never revealed exactly where the Clampetts originally lived. The show offered a number of clues, but many of them included conflicting information.)
How it plays: Beginning with the leftmost column and paying left to right on adjacent reels, wins are based on predetermined patterns of two, three or more like symbols. If one of Mr. Drysdale's safes appears on any reel, the entire reel expands to wild, and any winning combinations may be multiplied up to five times.
Bonus features: When three or more "The Beverly Hillbillies Bonus" symbols appear scattered, choose one to reveal one of three features:
•Elly May's Match Bonus - Choose gifts for Elly May's wedding and help her find a husband. You'll have five chances to make your picks among such selections as chocolates, perfume, a necklace and wilds. Pick two matching items to lock in a credit amount, advance to another round and also get two extra picks.
•Clampetts In London - In this free spin bonus, accompany the Clampetts to London by choosing one of five Clampett "Coat of Arms" to reveal a symbol that will become wild - and locks into place - in subsequent spins. As long as at least one of these wild and locking symbols appears in the next winning combination, the free spins continue with additional spins and increasingly greater winnings.
•Millionaire Mile Bonus - Take a road trip with the Clampetts. You'll get five chances to spin a wheel on the screen, with each spin on the wheel landing you closer to the Clampett's Beverly Hills mansion and the top prize. Depending on where the car stops along the way, you'll get credits, extra spins or both. For example, if the wheel stops on number seven, the car will move by seven spaces and stop. That spot may hold credits or special "pick" bonuses such as:
Granny's Rheumatiz Medicine - Choose from one of three jars to reveal your prize.
Jethro's Jobs - Choose a job for Jethro. Each option - matador, spy, fry cook, frogman or director - awards a different credit bonus.
Mr. Drysdale's Bank Bonus - Choose five safe deposit boxes, each of which contains credits or credits and additional picks.
