Central Michel Richard and its Pastry Chef Michael D’Angelo are offering something other casino restaurants are not: custom-made gingerbread houses filled with cookies.

Priced at just $25, D’Angelo and his staff hand-craft each house, a process that can take up to two hours for each one.

“It’s a labor of love,” D’Angelo says. “We wanted to try something different that will entice people to come in and see what we’re all about and hopefully have a bite to eat, too.”

Another enticing factor are surprise Central gift certificates hidden in each house. The certificates, which can be redeemed to Feb. 28, include a bottle of selected house wine, 20 percent off a meal, a free dessert or free glass of house wine.

The 7-inch houses are decorated with candy and filled with French butter cookies, chocolate chips and biscotti.

The choice to offer gingerbread houses makes perfect sense for Central. Richard, an internationally known chef, first became famous for his pastry skills. And D’Angelo has executed Richard’s recipes — along with a few of his own — to offer some of the best desserts you will find in Atlantic City. These include chocolate croissants and the Napoleon with vanilla bean sauce.
