One of the most fun annual food and beverage events on the mainland returns 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, as The Doc’s Place Martini Night offers an amazing all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink affair that pairs great spirits with even better food.
The $75 price tag offers one of the best dining deals you will find all year.
Top-shelf spirits this year include Caledonia Barr Hill Vodka, crafted from honey and micro-distilled in Vermont; Caledonia Barr Hill Gin, which receives a bit of raw honey right before bottling; RumChata, Caribbean rum with Wisconsin dairy cream; Tito’s Handmade Vodka, a gluten-free liquor from Austin, Texas; Prairie Organic Cucumber Vodka and Prairie Organic Gin; Pinnacle Vodka flavors including Chocolate Whipped Cream, Pumpkin Pie and Salted Caramel; Bulleit Bourbon and Rye American Whiskey; Johnnie Walker New Platinum and New Reserve Gold scotches; Grand Marnier Raspberry and Peach limited-edition flavors; Tres Agaves Blaco Tequila; Sugar Island Coconut Rum; and Lazzaroni Sambuca and Amaretto.
A beautiful Grey Goose ice sculpture will be on display and the vodka company will feature flavors such as original, pear, Cherry Noir and orange, and craft beer will be poured, inclding Allagash.
Of course, there will be plenty of wine, including Shatter’s grenache from France and Taken’s Complicated red bled fromt he California’s Central Coast.
The gourmet buffet will include seared shrimp with pancetta, beefsteak tomatoes and peas over spinach; grilled teriyaki flank steak sandwiches on garlic bread with melted cheese; scallops with bacon and horseradish cream sauce; eggplant rollatini with seared oregano scented spinach; Doc’s Franks wrapped with crescent rolls; assorted worldly cheeses; crab cake-filled shrimp topped with a tarragon Bearnaise sauce with a cream cheese risotto; herb-roasted pork loin with a parsley shallot sauce with horseradish mashed potatoes; and chicken Baldosano with prosciutto, spinach and provolone over penne with vodka tomato sauce.
Doc’s kitchen will be open for diners to see how dishes are prepared, and promotional representatives from wine and spirits companies will offer giveaways.
