When it comes to Atlantic City, there is no shortage of accomplished, world-class chefs. And the Academy of Culinary Arts is giving people the chance to cook like one.

On Thursday, Feb. 7, Chef Michel Richard will put on a cooking demonstration of his signature lobster burger, which is served at Central Michel Richard in Revel.

Academy alumnus Chef Michael Williams will join Richard in the event and demonstration for ACA students and faculty.

The demo gives aspiring chefs at the Atlantic Cape Community College a chance to see how a working chef approaches a meal and his career.

"When I was young, a friend took me to his father's kitchen - I was inspired," Richard says. "In America, the Grand Chefs like 'moi' need to go to the culinary schools to help inspire the next generation."

After the cooking demonstration, Richard will be on hand to answer questions and sign copies of his book, "Happy in the Kitchen."

Richard has been called a pioneer of French-California cuisine and patrons can experience the dishes in his repertoire further with a visit to Central at Revel.

"It's wonderful to show the young chefs how much I love my profession," Richard says. "I want to inspire them with the same love that I have had for the past 50 years. Besides, I need good chefs in my kitchens to replace me!"
