at The Pier

KingBee Media and FashionSTYLE Magazine will bring four days of high-end fashion to the shore with Atlantic City Fashion Week, beginning Thursday, Sept. 26, and running through Sunday, Sept. 29, at The Pier Shops at Caesars.

An international group of designers from Australia, Scotland, India, the Caribbean and the United States will feature menswear, ladies couture and ladies formal.

A welcome event and the first Atlantic City Fashion Week Awards will kick off the events on Thursday, Sept. 26. at The Continental restaurant inside The Pier Shops. On Friday, Sept. 27, designers will showcase ready-to-wear and plus-size collections. Couture designs will be featured Saturday, Sept. 28. Designers and collections from South Asia will be featured Sunday, Sept. 29.

Featured Designers for the four-day event include Sean John, Tommy Bahama, Waisted Laced Corsets from Australia, Tracey Cochrane from Scotland, Lisa Astor from Puerto Rico and Mitan Ghosh from India.

Fashion shows begin at 7 p.m. Ticket prices start at $35. VIP front-row tickets are $100.

In-Water Power Boat Show

Climb aboard the hottest 2014 boat models and check out this year’s sport cruisers, express yachts, sport fishing yachts and bow riders at the 29th Atlantic City In-Water Power Boat Show, running Thursday, Sept. 26, through Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Farley State Marina.

Show hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $15 for adults and free for children under 12. The Farley State Marina is adjacent to the Golden Nugget Atlantic City.

The show will include a marine accessory mart featuring marine electronics, fishing equipment and supplies and a wide variety of nautical supplies, accessories and clothing. While checking the latest styles and trends, boating enthusiasts can refuel and listen to the bands on the marina deck.

FunFest in Margate

Fall into autumn when the Margate Business Association presents its annual Fall FunFest by the Bay on Saturday, Sept. 28, and Sunday, Sept. 29.

Amherst Avenue between Decatur and Coolidge avenues becomes a fun-filled, family-friendly kaleidoscope of free activities, including amusement rides, more than 100 crafts and vendor stalls, marine educational exhibits, back bay boat rides, two live entertainment stages and plenty food. Adults can even enjoy a beer garden by the bay.

For the first time this year, FunFest will include Zumba Alley. A $5 wristband each day grants admission to any or all of the Zumba classes held from the festival’s beginning to end. A portion of the proceeds from wristband sales will support a trio of nonprofit organizations.

A Kid’s Stage to show off the area’s talented kids is one of the event’s highlights. In addition to the acts, kids will be able to participate in open-mic on Saturday. The Phillies Phanatic will make a special appearance on Sunday between noon and 1 p.m.

Free Jitney rides are available throughout Funfest. Funfest hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Steve and Cookie’s Dog Show

The 17th Annual Steve and Cookie’s Dog Show and Contest will be held Sunday, Sept. 29, in conjunction with Margate’s Fall Funfest.

Combining philanthropy and fun, the show and contest will be held at 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Steve and Cookie’s By the Bay, 9700 Amherst Ave., Margate.

On-site registration for the contest is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The contest will award prizes in four categories: Fashionista Dog (large and small dog), Owner That Most Resembles Dog (large and small dog), Most Handsome/Pretty Dog (large and small dog) and Most Talented Dog (one size fits all). Registration fee is $20 per category per dog. Each entrant will be given a t-shirt and doggie gift bag.

This year’s theme, “Love is,” will promote public awareness and education on responsible pet adoption and conscientious pet guardianship. Proceeds from the event will go to NJ Aid for Animals and the Humane Society of Ocean City.

The day will also include information booths, dog-training tips from certified Master Trainer Lee Mann, a demonstration from Atlantic City’s K-9 Unit at 11:30 a.m., judged events and pet prizes. Burgers and music will also be available in the parking lot.

Levoy Theatre

First Anniversary Concert in Millville

The Levoy Theatre is marking its first year in Millville’s downtown business district with a free community celebration on Sunday, Sept. 29.

The United States Army Field Band and Soldiers Chorus will perform on the Levoy stage at 2 p.m. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Formed in 1946 as the First Combat Infantry Band, the organization has grown and diversified over the years and has performed all over the world. The band and chorus is comprised of 102 musicians and singers.

The Levoy Theatre is located at 128 N. High St., Millville. The box office is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and two hours prior to all shows.

Millville Block Party and Community Day

The Millville Community Center, Holly City Development Corporation, City of Millville Recreation Department and the Millville Development Corporation will sponsor the first Community Day and Block Party in Millville’s Glasstown Arts District and in Captain Buck Riverfront Park on Sunday, Sept. 29.

The day-long block party begins at 11 a.m. on the 100 block of High Street. The block party will feature festival tents, free face painting and arts and crafts for children, and live music in the High Street gazebo. The Millville Public Library, located at 210 Buck St., will give away hundreds of children’s books from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free paddleboats for families will be available at the municipal marina on Ware Avenue from noon to 7 p.m. (half-hour paddles).

The fun moves one block over to Captain Buck Riverfront Park at 5 p.m. Activities will include free Zumba in the park, face painting, arts and crafts, bounce house, DJ music and refreshments for purchase. The movie “Brave” will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Blues Brothers at Stockton

The Stockton Performing Arts Center and The Stockton Entertainment Team will present “The Official Blues Brothers Revue” at the Stockton Performing Arts Center 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.

The Official Blues Brothers Revue, featuring Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty as Jake and Elwood Blues, recreates the live concert experience that featured John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, integrating the humor and songs from the original film and subsequent albums.

Judy Belushi Pisano and Dan Aykroyd produce the revue, which pays homage to Chicago’s rich history of blues, soul music and gospel in the true spirit of the original Blues Brothers.

The Stockton Performing Arts Center is located on the campus of The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey on Jimmie Leeds Road in Galloway Township. Tickets are $32.
