'George M!' at Surflight Theatre
The quintessential musical about "the man who owned Broadway" is returning to the Surflight Theatre. "George M!," the musical about Broadway legend George M. Cohan, will have its opening night 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, and runs through July 7.
Through song and dance, "George M!" tells the life story of George M. Cohan, a giant of American musical theater who gave America classic songs like "Yankee Doodle Dandy," "Over There," "You're A Grand Old Flag," and "Give My Regards to Broadway."
The musical is based on both Cohan's autobiography, "Twenty Years on Broadway and the Years it Took to Get There," and the 1942 film ''Yankee Doodle Dandy." Surflight Theatre previously presented "George M!" in 1969, 1976, 1985 and 2002.
Surflight Theatre is located at 201 Engleside Ave., Beach Haven. Performances are 2 and 8 p.m. Tuesdays, 2 p.m. Wednesdays, 2 and 8 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $45.
