Two of the best restaurants in the city - Stephen Starr's Continental and Buddakan - recently rolled out new menus that are certainly impressing diners this summer.

Let's start at Continental, the modern American diner that always impresses with its creative, inventive takes on international cuisine and American classics. Here are some new summer dishes you certainly don't want to miss: the crab tortilla salad ($14) boasts baby lettuce, pickled onion, tomato and a refreshing avocado ranch dressing that's perfect for a hot summer day; and the falafel sandwich ($11) features the traditional Middle Eastern deep-fried chickpeas and fava beans patty with pepper salad and tahini yogurt sauce on naan bread, or you can have it as an appetizer ($9) at dinner.

The summer additions join an ever-evolving menu that also recently added selections such as chicken and waffles ($16), an entree with boneless buttermilk-fried chicken, white cheddar waffles and applewood-smoked bacon gravy; and tapas such as the Asian shrimp Po' Boy ($15) with spicy, crispy shrimp on steamed buns; pan-seared scallops ($18) with peanut soba noodle salad and honey soy butter; Cantonese baby back ribs ($12.50) in a hoisin BBQ sauce; and Wahoo fish tacos ($12.50) with pico de gallo, queso fresco and guacamole.

Continental also recently debuted some breakfast items including Challah bread french toast ($10); huevos rancheros ($11) with chorizo, black beans, avocado crema, tostado and heirloom tomato salsa; ham and Swiss omelet ($9) with fresh fruit; egg white frittata ($10); lox and bagel ($12); and mimosas.

Although Buddakan, Starr's Asian fusion restaurant next door, added one summer regular menu item - Dungeness crab and shrimp Sui Mai ($18) with sweet chili Szechuan mustard - to its already-impressive dumpling menu, the real reason to check out Buddakan is its amazing menu of five new desserts ($10 to $11). Vanilla cr�me brulee is influenced with Tahitian vanilla and served with mangos and frozen Kalamansi yogurt; crispy spring rolls are filled with Yuzu curd, and accompanied by baked meringue, blackberry sauce and cilantro; the grilled coconut cake is served cold "tres leches" style with passion fruit cr�me, basil, coconut sauces and a tremendous coconut sorbet; Szechuan peanut semi-freddo is an odd but tasty dessert with peanut butter semi-freddo wrapped around milk chocolate ginger mousse and spicy peanut brittle; and my favorite is the almond bread pudding with warm brioche and almond cream served with a maple butterscotch sauce and whisky ice cream.

Nugget's Deckstock

The Golden Nugget's Deck, for years, has been known for its annual Fakefest, where some of the best tribute bands in the country perform all weekend. Now, it hopes to be known for Deckstock.

On Saturday, Aug. 10, the Nugget will take attendees on a music journey all day, returning music lovers to the sounds and sights of the 1960s.The unique show will feature professional musicians recreating the sounds of the some of the most famous rock 'n' roll legends of the Woodstock era, including the Mamas and the Papas, Grace Slick and Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Dusty Springfield, Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones and more.

Deckstock will be featured from 2 to 6 p.m. right on the beautiful Deck, which overlooks the Farley State Marina and has one of the best waterfront views in South Jersey.

Sam Adams dinner

On Tuesday, Aug. 13, beer lovers will certainly unite inside Fin: A Prime Seafood and Steak Experience at the Tropicana for a special dinner paired with varieties from American craft brewer Samuel Adams.

Jeff Martin of Boston Beer will guide guests through each pairing as local beer expert Gary Monterosso also will be on hand. The evening will commence with a reception at The Bar at Fin with hors d'oeuvres. The five-course dinner will be held inside the main dining room and includes vegetable strata, lobster cheesecake, scallops, pork chop and Valhona chocolate stout cake, all paired with beer. Clambake Open at ACCC

The annual Atlantic City Country Club Clambake Open returns for its seventh year on Sunday, Aug. 11, and is one of the legendary club's signature events worth checking out. The format is a two-man better ball tournament, but the highlight of the day is Executive Chef Ed Daggers' amazing clam bake that includes local clams and oysters on the half shell with citrus cocktail sauce; open-roasted suckling pig; BBQ chicken; seafood paella with shrimp chorizo sausage, olives, herbs, saffron rice and Jersey Fresh veggies; homemade desserts and ice cream and more.

Registration and range open at 11 a.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Price is $175 all-inclusive with golf, dinner and prizes. But if you don't want to golf, the 5 p.m. clambake costs just $39.95.
