World Series of Fighting 5: Arlovski vs. Kyle at Revel

WHO ARE THEY: Andrei Arlovski is a former UFC heavyweight champion who holds a record of 19 wins, 10 losses and one no decision. In 2005, Arlovski battled Tim Sylvia for the UFC heavyweight title and came away with a submission victory 47 seconds into the first round. He went on to defend his title against Justin Eilers and Paul Buentello.

Mike Kyle is a mixed martial arts veteran who has fought an impressive list of top fighters over the course of his 12-year career. Kyle holds a pro record of 20-9-1 and, in his most recent fight, defeated Travis “Diesel” Wiuff in 21 seconds.

WHAT TO EXPECT: World Series of Fighting returns to Revel on Saturday night with an exciting lineup of bouts highlighted by the main event between Arlovski and Kyle. Both Arlovski and Kyle are experienced fighters who are known as fierce strikers and know how to lay an opponent out, so the match has the potential to be an action-packed, gruesome affair. Arlovski, a former UFC heavyweight champion, is out for redemption after having lost a unanimous decision to Anthony Johnson in March. Prior to that loss, Arlovski had won four of his last five bouts and appeared to be on the comeback trail. Meanwhile, Kyle is coming off a very impressive 21-second victory over Travis Wiuff in May, so his confidence should be at an all-time high going into this match with Arlovski. The undercard features several highly-anticipated matchups including David Branch (12-3) vs. Danillo Villefort (14-4), Elvis Mutapcic (13-2) vs. Jesse Taylor (26-9) and Rolles Gracie (8-1) vs. Derrick Mehmen (15-5).

‘Lucy I’m Dead’

at Resorts

WHAT IS IT: “Lucy I’m Dead” is a dinner theater, murder mystery show which is a parody of the famous television comedy “I Love Lucy.” The show includes dinner, dessert and a cash bar and is an interactive experience with the audience getting the opportunity to participate in the show. There is also a prize awarded for the most correct answer at the end of the night.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Ricky’s big break appears to be on the horizon , but in typical “I Love Lucy” fashion, the arguing of Fred and Ethel and the antics and zaniness of Lucy and her half-baked schemes threaten to jeopardize the whole thing.

SHOW INFO: Tickets are $50, and the shows begins 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14 and 28, and Saturday, Oct. 12 and 26, at Resorts.

Kool & the Gang

at Tropicana

WHO ARE THEY: Originally formed as a jazz ensemble in the mid-1960s, Kool & the Gang rose to prominence in the early 1970s with the hits “Funky Stuff,” “Jungle Boogie” and “Hollywood Swinging.” The band fused elements of jazz, R&B, funk, soul and pop to create their own signature sound, which helped the group win two Grammy awards and seven American Music Awards over the course of their career. In 1980, Kool & The Gang earned their sole No. 1 single with “Celebration,” and the song has been a staple at wedding receptions ever since. Other hits include “Cherish,” “Summer Madness,” and “Open Sesame.”

WHAT TO EXPECT: Some funky stuff will be going down at the Tropicana Casino and Resort on Saturday as Kool and the Gang roll into town. The group, which was originally formed in Jersey City, will have people dancing in the aisles and moving and grooving to their incredible array of R&B hits including “Jungle Boogie,” “Funky Stuff,” “Celebration,” “Get Down on It” and “Hollywood Swinging.” This concert looks to be an upbeat celebration that neither diehards nor casual fans will want to miss.

WHAT’S NEW: Last year Kool and the Gang teamed up for a successful tour with Van Halen. The band also played dates recently with Kid Rock and a show with The Dave Matthews Band in Hershey, Pa.

Get the Led Out

at House of Blues

WHO ARE THEY: With a killer stage show, an impressive setlist and a dedication to authenticity, Get the Led Out has been wowing audiences with their tribute to Led Zeppelin.

WHAT TO EXPECT: They may not look exactly like Zeppelin’s famous lineup, but they sure do sound like them, and this band rocks just as hard.

SHOW INFO: Tickets are $17 and $23, and the show begins 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the House of Blues.

Stephen Lynch

at Borgata

WHO IS HE: Stephen Lynch is a multi-talented entertainer who works as a comedian, musician and actor. Lynch appeared in two “Comedy Central Presents” specials and also starred in “The Wedding Singer” on Broadway. He’s released a studio album along with several live albums and DVDs. Lynch’s comedic songs helped separate him from the pack of other comedians on the scene.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Lynch is a natural performer who is equally at ease acting in a Broadway production as he is performing humorous songs for an audience at a comedy club. Lynch’s career began to really take off after a very popular “Comedy Central Presents” performance and he really began to turn heads after being cast in the lead role of Broadway’s “The Wedding Singer.” Fans at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa can look forward to a slew of Lynch’s comedic tunes including “Turned Gay,” “Medieval Bush,” “Prettier Than You” and “I Am Not a Jukebox,” as well as songs from his new album “Lion.”

WHAT’S NEW: Lynch’s latest release is the double album “Lion,” which contains both studio and live tracks.

Divas Do AC

at Resorts

WHO ARE THEY: Divas Do AC is a female and celebrity impersonator show which features a rotating cast of characters including Dolly Parton, Prince, Patti Labelle, Liza Minelli, Marilyn Monroe and Madonna. Joan Rivers serves as the show’s impersonator host.

SHOW INFO: Tickets are $25, and the shows begins 8 p.m. Mondays, 9 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays, and 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at Resorts Casino Hotel’s Screening Room.

Legends in Concert at Bally’s

WHO ARE THEY: Legends in Concert began in Las Vegas in the 1980s and has been running strong ever since as the world’s most successful tribute show.

SHOW INFO: Tickets are $32.50. The shows begin 3, 7:30, 8 and 10 p.m. Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at the Legends in Concert Theater at Bally’s Atlantic City.

The Burlesque Show at Borgata

WHAT IS IT: The Burlesque Show is a new production at Borgata that offers a tribute to the burlesque style of the 1940s. The show features entertainers from around the globe in vaudeville skits and provocative dances.

SHOW INFO: Tickets are $25, and the shows begin 9 p.m. Thursdays through Aug. 29, at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa’s Music Box.

Mentalist Wayne Hoffman at Revel

WHO IS HE: Wayne Hoffman combines his psychology and illusion in his act “Mind Candy” and has performed in 45 countries throughout the world. He’s appeared on “The Howard Stern Show,” “Phenomenon” and “The Glenn Beck Show” and has won several entertainment awards.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Mentalist Wayne Hoffman displays seemingly supernatural powers in his show “Mind Candy,” which comes to Revel for a monthlong engagement. Hoffman reveals people’s innermost thoughts in a humorous us way, combing it with visual illusions which absolutely amaze audience members. The high-energy show features time travel and objects being moved only by Hoffman’s mind. “Mind Candy” is a one-of-a-kind type of show that is not to be missed.


SHOW INFO: Tickets are $20. The shows begin at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. and run six days a week for a month beginning on Thursday, Aug. 1.

Cirque Dreams

Revealed at Revel

WHO ARE THEY: Founded in 1993 by Broadway director Neil Goldberg, Cirque Dreams has entertained more than 50 million people worldwide in theaters, casinos, theme parks, cruise lines and on Broadway. The shows feature incredible acrobatics, wonderful artistry and stylish costumes. Cirque Dreams shows have been major hits with both fans and critics alike. Cirque Dreams Revealed is a brand new show which makes its debut at Revel’s The Social.

WHAT TO EXPECT: A brand new Cirque Dreams show, Cirque Dreams Revealed comes to The Social for a two-month run and promises to be another bit hit. It’s a 60-minute cabaret revue which includes dynamic action sequences performed by sixteen featured artists. Show-goers will be amazed as performers soar high over their heads executing challenging aerial maneuvers and balancing acts with an incredible grace and rhythm that makes it all look easy. The Social provides the perfect venue for Cirque Dreams Revealed as the intimate guest seating will surround the performers. A special “VIP Living Room” lounge offers guests an even more amazing view and an opportunity to be right alongside the artists and practically in the performance themselves. The show also features a dynamic musical score and elaborate costumes.
