Mays Landing Fall Festival
The annual PepsiCo Mays Landing Fall Festival returns 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, and includes a full day of fall fun at War Memorial Park.
Activities include pumpkin painting, hay tossing, a mummy-wrapping contest and scarecrow contest. Crafters, vendors and children's amusements also will be available.

'Tribute to The Platters'
The Avalon Performing Arts Council will close their summer with a special salute to The Platters on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Avalon Community Hall.
This popular Platters vocal group performed for more than a decade at the Sahara Casino in Las Vegas and most recently at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, singing Platters' hits including "Only You," "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" and "Harbor Lights."
Tommy Zito will open the evening's program featuring dancing before and after the show.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Show begins at 8 p.m. The Avalon Community Hall is located at 30th Street and the beach in Avalon. Admission is $20. Go to www.avalonboro.net for more information.
Chowderfest in LBI
Come to the biggest chowder cook-off at the shore and enjoy unlimited chowder tasting on Sunday, Sept. 30. Live music, children's entertainment and a food court are all part of the annual Chowder Cook-off Classic, pictured above right, held rain or shine at the Taylor Avenue ball field in Beach Haven from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tickets are $20; $10 for children ages 4 to 12. VIP tickets are $50 and include a T-shirt and exclusive early admission at 10 a.m. Taylor Avenue ball field is located at Ninth Street and Taylor Avenue in Beach Haven (across from Schooner's Wharf and Bay Village).
