Tony Mart’s 100th Birthday Celebration at Sandi Pointe

Anyone with fond Tony Mart memories — or those who want to hear great live music and have some dinner and birthday cake — is invited to celebrate what would have been Anthony Marotta Sr.’s 100th Birthday on Friday, Jan. 10, at Sandi Pointe Coastal Bistro in Somers Point.

The All-Star Bobby Fingers Band, right, featuring Danny Eyer, Rich “Megahertz” Kurtz on bass and Bobby Valeno Jr. on drums, will provide entertainment. Sandi Pointe will present a pasta and antipasti buffet, along with a birthday cake and Italian cookies from event sponsor Formica Bros. Bakery and Café.

Midiri Brothers perform in Ocean, Cape May counties

Each January, the popular MidWeek Jazz Series at Ocean County College finds new ways to celebrate Benny Goodman’s famous 1938 Carnegie Hall concert. This year’s tribute, the Midiri Brothers’ Salute to the Benny Goodman Sextet, will take place Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the OCC Arts & Community Center.

Tickets are $22 for adults, $18 for seniors and $12 for students. The Midweek Jazz Series shows run on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on OCC’s Main Campus, located on College Drive in Toms River. Sets last about 90 minutes. Guests are asked to use parking lot No. 2 when attending performances.

The Midiri Brothers Jazz Band will also perform 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, at the VFW 419 on Congress Street in Cape May as part of the Cape May Traditional Jazz Society series.
