Take a break from the heat indoors, just off the boardwalk, at Tropicana’s new Family Sports Station. Spend some time in the air conditioning playing basketball, air hockey, bowling, and more. Prizes include official NFL and MLB merchandise. Another option for gaming is the Family Fun Station, located in the North Tower. Spend hours playing more than 50 arcade games with the kids, including favorites such as skeeball, Pac Man, air hockey, and Guitar Hero.

3. Watch a circus performance

After getting your fill of video games, head to Tropicana’s Showroom for Nik Wallenda’s Zirkus II. The circus show features wire walker Nik Wallenda, holder of 10 work records, along with an international troupe of performers. The entire family will laugh one moment then stare in anticipation the next, with aerial, balance, strength, hula hoop, and sway-pole performances sure to entice even the grouchiest of toddlers. The circus ends with a heart-stopping act — the Wallenda family’s famous bicycle chair pyramid, performed on the high-wire. Select dates from July 9 through Sept. 4. $30 adults, $15 ages 16 and younger. Call 800-736-1420 or go to TicketMaster.com.

4. Catch an Imax movie

The Imax theater at Tropicana offers a few movie options for families who need a break from the busy vacation schedule. Watch a crystal-clear film in 3D and projected to up to five and a half stories high with surround sound. Upcoming films include “Great White Shark,” showing through Dec. 31; “The Mummy,” through June 22; “Transformers: The Last Knight,” June 22 through July 6; and “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” July 6 through 20. 5. Watch a light and sound show

For the perfect ending to your day, head outside to the boardwalk for the casino’s Multimedia Light and Sound Show, taking place nightly every half hour starting at 8:30 p.m. and ending with the last show at 11 p.m. The free show feature four different fantasy-themed light and sound displays shown on LED screens, including “The Illusion Show,” “The Sailor’s Log,” “Pinball Magic,” and “Fauna and The Stroll.” And on Saturdays through Sept. 9, don’t forget to stay for the fireworks display at 10 p.m.
