MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER CHRISTMAS BY CHIP DAVIS
HARRAH’S CONCERT VENUE // 9 P.M. SATURDAY, DEC. 9
WHO ARE THEY: Mannheim Steamroller is a neoclassical new-age group formed by Chip Davis in 1974. The album “Fresh Aire” was released in 1975 and explored the season of spring. Three sequels followed, each focusing on a different season. Musically the albums combined light jazz, classical music and rock. In 1984 Davis released “Mannheim Steamroller Christmas,” which was a success, spawning the release of more Christmas albums such as “Christmas in the Aire,” “Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Live” and “Christmas Extraordinaire.”
WHAT TO EXPECT: It wouldn’t be the holidays without the sounds of Mannheim Steamroller. On Saturday, the band will spread some cheer at the Concert Venue at Harrah's with performances of Christmas classics such as “Deck the Halls,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “Little Drummer Boy” and “Feliz Navidad.” Concertgoers will also get to hear some songs from the “Fresh Aire” series, including “Four Rows of Jacks,” “Toccata” and “Come Home to the Sea.”
SHOW INFO: Tickets are $45.
