If he had to chose two things that stand out about Babe's Village Inn in Buena, it would be the country music and the crabs, owner Richard "Babe" Cantoni says.

The Buena native opened his landmark establishment 30 years ago in 1982. Over its three decades, the bar and restaurant has served several generations of locals from 21-year-olds to seniors, with a huge base of regulars.

"We're family oriented here," Cantoni says. "Everybody knows each other and if they don't know you they make sure they make friends with you."

The venue offers a full lunch and dinner menu serving everything from "steaks to pasta and seafood." Their most popular menu item is the garlic crabs.

"We're known as the home of the garlic crab," he says.

Their crabs come in four varieties: garlic and oil, Italian, Old Bay and Maryland-style.

Babe's Village Inn also has a full bar with six beers on tap, a daily happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. and live entertainment every Saturday, typically country music performances.

"I've been country since I opened," Cantoni says.

Some popular country music bands to perform at Babe's Village Inn are In High Gear and 4-Wheel Drive. Westbury Rose is set to play Thanksgiving evening and Frank Campari will play every Friday night.

The Johnny Cash Show

On Saturday, Nov. 10, Atlantic City's premier Johnny Cash tribute band, The Johnny Cash Show, will be performing at Babe's Village Inn.

This is the fourth time The Johnny Cash Show will be returning to Babe's and it's sure to be a good time, Cantoni says.

The entertainment will run from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There is no cover charge.
