Goodnight Irene's Brew Pub in Wildwood is a destination for the craft beer enthusiast or anyone looking to broaden their horizons and try something new, general manager Richie Rallo says.
The pub offers a seemingly endless and constantly changing selection of craft beers that will keep even the biggest of "beer geeks" pleased, with a knowledgeable staff willing to help even the most uninformed patron find their perfect beer match.
"For those looking to venture away from the gateway beers such as Miller Light and Coors Light, but don't where to start, we're more than willing to help," Rallo says.
Customers can purchase a $10 flight of four, 7-ounce craft beers of their choice or buy by the glass.
Currently, Goodnight Irene's has 38 craft beers on tap, including several winter ales and selections from Cape May Brewing Company and Tuckahoe Brewing Company, both based in Cape May County.
Rallo says guests can also check out the "What's On Tap" section of its website or "like" Goodnight Irene's on Facebook to stay informed on what's available at a given time and to see what's to come. They often host exclusive, one-time-only, craft-brew tap parties, also listed on its website and Facebook.
"When we tap a new kind of beer, we announce it on our Facebook page to let the enthusiasts know," he says.
Goodnight Irene's Brew Pub opened in 2007, at the forefront of the current craft beer craze. Nowadays, it seems almost every bar you walk into has some sort of craft beer selection, but few offer a list as inclusive and exclusive as Goodnight Irene's.
"We tap a lot of crafts that are exclusive to the state or county," Rallo says.
Happy hour is held 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and includes discounted drink and food specials, as listed on its website.
Additional weekly specials include $2 domestic beer bottles and $5 homemade, brick-oven pizzas starting at 5 p.m. with entertainment by DJ Mollo starting 10 p.m. Wednesdays; $1 off all craft beers from 7 to 11 p.m. Thursdays, with Quizzo starting at 9 p.m. accompanied by $9 wings and steamers; entertainment by DJ Mollo starting 10 p.m. Fridays; live music starting 10 p.m. Saturdays; and Sundays feature music by DJ Talko at 10 p.m., as well as a beer pong tournament, with signups beginning at 10 p.m. and the tourney kicking off at 11 p.m. It's $1 to play with a cash prize.
New for Summer 2013:
Last summer, Goodnight Irene's opened its outdoor beer garden, which features a bar, additional seating, TVs and live music.
This summer, the bar is adding to the beer garden tap. The tap will now feature a rotating selection of 10 to 15 craft beers at a time. Previously, the system held four beers.
The Beer Garden is open in-season or when weather permits.
