Paul Negro has been so successful with his Cape May restaurant Tisha’s Fine Dining, it was no surprise he decided to open another one nearby.
5 West Pub — located five miles west of Tisha’s, hence the name — has a more casual vibe with a high-end twist,
Paul’s wife Jen, who co-owns the restaurants, described 5 West as a “gastropub,” a pub that specializes in serving high-quality food.
“It’s not just your typical burger and beer kind of place. Our menu is more high-end pub food and everything is homemade,” she says. “We have a brick oven and serve specialty pizzas, and we have a pastry chef.”
The décor is also a little more high end than a typical dive-bar atmosphere, with a rustic accents, a working fireplace and several wall mounted TVs.
Patrons can dine at the bar or at a table, Jen Negro says. Happy hour is 3 to 6 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and includes reduced price drinks and a daily specialty brick oven pizza.
5 West Pub also carries an extensive line of craft beers on tap, which rotates with the seasons and always includes two Cape May Brewery selections in support of its neighbor.
Bar trivia is held 8 p.m. every Monday night and includes prizes for the winning team.
5 West Pub is currently in the planning stages of creating an outdoor space that will be dog and smokers' friendly.
