Harbor Square Theatre in Stone Harbor opened up to great acclaim this summer. And why wouldn’t it? When it reopened it came with a burger bar and a concession stand that sells cocktails. Hello? An obvious success.
But Harbor Square isn’t just about the movies … they occasionally hold a live music series, like this weekend's "Guys withe Guitars," that is well worth the visit. Here are four reasons to visit Harbor Square Theatre that have nothing to do with the silver screen.
1. Four guys for the price of one. A $15 ticket gets you in to see not one, but four, excellent musicians during an evening of blues and rock. Ernie Trionfo, Donald Lee Shough, Dennis Donnelly and Nate Kennedy are among the who’s who of local musicians, playing everywhere from Cape May to Atlantic City, helping to cement South Jersey as a hub for live music. Between the four of them, we can pretty much guarantee you’ll be impressed.
2. You’ll be doing good. Do your New Year’s resolutions include anything related to doing good? If so, this is a great place to start. A portion of the proceeds from Guys with Guitars goes to the Support for Scott Fund, a not-for-profit fund that pays bills for individuals and families dealing with sudden illness or death. The charity was started for Scott Bevan, who died from metastatic melanoma in 2010.

3. There’s a dinner package. Why not step things up a bit by adding a dinner to your show experience? For $60 per couple, you get two admissions to the show and dinner from a special concert menu at the Burger Bar. The menu includes a shared appetizer, two entrees and two soft drinks.
4. The cocktails. While you’re at the show, whether you’re staying for dinner or not, grab one of Harbor Burger Bar's signature movie-inspired cocktails like the Shirley Temple Black (Goslings Black Seal rum and Goslings ginger beer topped with Maraschino liqueur), the Silver Screen Margarita (Patron Silver, Cointreau, and fresh orange and lime juices with a touch of sour mix) or the Saturday at the Movies Martini (Skyy cherry vodka, Triple Sec, fresh lemon and cranberry juice).
