Soggy Dollar Beach Bar new Morey's Piers attraction

Morey's Piers recently debuted its brand new beach bar, Soggy Dollar Beach Bar, located on the back of Morey's Surfside Pier above the Ocean Oasis Waterpark + Beach Club.

"We're well known for young families, but we're also a great venue for adults," says Jack Morey, a second-generation partner of the Wildwoods amusement park pier.

"We wanted to do a better job at entertaining the entire family – to even the odds.

Atlantic City has all of its beach bars, but as far as I know there aren't many, if any, in the Wildwoods."

Soggy Dollar Beach Bar, which had its soft opening June 8, will be open seven days a week starting this Saturday, June 15. There is access to the beach bar from both the boardwalk and the beach.

Visitors don't need admission to the waterpark to enter, and people 21 and under are welcome as well.

"It's not a crazy shot bar, it's a family place," Morey says.

Soggy Dollar Beach Bar offers a full bar with a specialty cocktail menu that includes several frozen drinks and its signature cocktail, the Presidential Punch, which fits the bar's "money" motto to "Eat and Drink like a President," hence the soggy dollar reference. The bar also offers a food menu created by chefs Wally Jurusz and Betsy Garr with a focus on "innovative freshness."

Prior to the opening of Soggy Dollar, this area was "quaint cafe," Morey says. When Morey's Piers expanded, it created the beach bar.

The design of the beach bar includes a semicircle bar on its upper deck with a view of the ocean, along with additional tables and chairs and a large cabana available for rent.

"It's as close to the ocean as you can possibly be without getting wet," Morey says, adding, "it's not uncommon to have dolphins passing by while you're eating and drinking like a president."

Live Music:

"We can't have a beach bar without live music," Morey says. "We're looking to bring in alternative rock musicians to perform when we can.

The entertainment lineup is still in the works, Morey says. The plan is to get through the opening first and take it from there.
