The Central ready to rock out in Hammonton

A brand new bar, The Central, is looking to bring high-energy live entertainment to downtown Hammonton.

"We're focusing mainly on being a music venue featuring bands, live acts and acoustics," says General Manager Pete Brown, who co-owns the business with Filomena Boccella. Boccella previously owned Club In or Out, which The Central has replaced.

"It's a completely different concept, different management," Brown says of The Central, which celebrated its soft opening on May 4 and is now open every Thursday through Sunday evening.

The owners are now in the process of booking bands, which will be posted on its website and Facebook page as they are set.

So far, they have an open-mic night planned 9 p.m. Saturday, May 11, to be hosted by an acoustic musician, and later in the summer on July 21 and Aug. 25, LauraLea, the lead singer of the band LauraLea and Tripp Fabulous, is scheduled to perform.

Grand Opening Celebration:

The Central's offical grand opening celebration is set for June 9, with a performance by the band Lorenzo, "a major act," who has previously opened for several big-name bands including 3 Doors Down, Stone Temple Pilots, Hinder, Fuel and more.

Lorenzo will come on stage at 2 p.m. and the celebration will run through the night.

Additional Offerings:

The Central has two full bars - one indoor and one outdoor - a lounge area with TVs, a pool table and a jukebox, and a separate room for live entertainment and an extensive dance floor, to meet everyone's interests.

A lite-fare food menu also is available, which they are hoping to expand upon soon, as well as specialty drinks including house favorite "The Strat," named for the Stratocaster guitar and going with The Central's rock 'n' roll theme. The Strat is made with a mix of Tequila, orange juice and grenadine.
