Trump everyone else’s celebration. Here’s one thing Atlantic City has that’s not available anywhere else in New Jersey: the casino resort. With gambling being a round-the-clock activity, the casino hotels are in a perfect position to offer a variety of party options within a comfortable walk of each other throughout the holiday weekend. Take for example Trump Plaza, where DJ Nicky D gets the long weekend started at 4 p.m. Friday at the Beach Bar, followed by Void Union at 7 p.m. and DJ April at 9 p.m. Live music continues throughout the weekend at the Beach Bar and most other casino bars and clubs. Down the Boardwalk, at sister property Trump Taj Mahal, you’d never know the weather outside is cooling by looking at the Almost Angels dancers at Ego Bar & Lounge. Loosen up a bit and get into the party spirit with these sexy steppers as inspiration starting at 10:30 p.m. Wednesdays to Saturdays.
One more dance fest. Nothing says summer party quite like bouncing along with hundreds of sweaty fellow fans of electronic dance music in your brightest neon colors while your favorite DJ spins your favorite remix live and the light show makes you feel high. And Atlantic City knows how to up the ante to create a festival atmosphere and experience that will have you smiling over the memories well into the school year. Highlights include teenage dance music sensation Danny Avila at Revel’s HQ Nightclub Friday night and spinning sensation Kaskade Monday night. Nick Cannon will be at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa’s mur.mur Saturday night and DJ Paul Van Dyk — one of the original grand daddies of electronica — spins at MIXX Sunday night.
Celebrate the fading of summer in style. It’s official, your days of partying on a deck bar overlooking the marina with live music in the background and drink specials meant to inspire drinking games are numbered. So why not go out with a bang celebrating good times on the boards? Golden Nugget Atlantic City’s Deck will have you watching the clock all day Friday anticipating its ‘beat the clock’ specials from 4 to 8 p.m., when the Absolut cocktails start at $5 before 5 p.m. and go up $1 per hour after that.
Escape to the Cape. Sea Isle City is the place to be for locals closing out the season. The Ocean Drive Sandbar has cheap drink specials, DJs keep the dance floor full and the bar has a casual attitude about dress code. The Dead Dog Saloon is where you’ll find soulful, guitar-strumming musicians and a hip, young crowd catching up with old friends or getting their fill of home before heading back to college. In Wildwood, Flip Flopz Bar and Grill gets started Thursdays with live music by Split Decision.
Cruise into fall. Nothing says summer party like ‘I’m on a boat’ partying while cruising into the sunset with views of Absecon Island. If you haven’t had the chance already, check out the evening cruises by Atlantic City Princess Cruises. A sunset cruise boards 5:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and cruises up and down the Atlantic City shoreline and Back Bay from 6 to 8 p.m. There are passed hors d’oeuvres and romantic views, but best of all, the cruises are BYOB, so your cost is limited to the ticket price and soft drinks for mixers. A reggae cruise also sets out for an evening of calypso and steel reggae music, dancing and even a limbo contest complete with prizes. If you really like it, you can come back for a brunch cruise Sunday. More info at AtlanticCityPrincess.com.
